The Ground Beneath Our Feet

The Knights

(Warner Classics)

One thing is certain: the ground is always shifting on this disc.

The Knights are an adventurous orchestral collective, born in Brooklyn.

This live recording takes the concerto grosso as its theme and ranges from Bach, played with racy gusto, to Stravinsky's Concerto Dumbarton Oaks and Steve Reich.

A Concerto for santur (a Persian dulcimer) and violin by Colin Jacobsen and Siamak Aghaei is part world music, part trendy modern.

The collective's own collaboration - the ground beneath our feet - throws together salsa, Irish reel, Indian raga and free jam. No pigeon-holing allowed.
