Tyler, the Creator is the Californian rapper who leads shock-rap provocateurs Odd Future. The deliberately messy mix on his new solo album gives it a grimy punk feel, as with the waves of distortion on the title track.

Yet there is a bold musical imagination discernible too, evident in the zany keyboard melody weaving through stark hip-hop bass and beats in "Okaga, CA" alongside soulful vocals and muttered rapping, a strangely catchy concoction.
