Acid King

Middle of Nowhere, Centre of Everywhere

(Code 7-Svart Records)

Perhaps in the torpid world of stoner metal a hibernation of 10 years between albums counts as a blink of an eyelid.

At any rate San Francisco veterans Acid King pick up exactly where they left off a decade ago with the powerful Middle of Nowhere, Centre of Everywhere.

Songs follow a slow grinding groove while massive riffs churn and grate against one another like tectonic plates engineering some awesome earthbound upheaval.

Meanwhile singer Lori S, seemingly recorded in the far corner of the studio, cries out semi-chanted vocals as though from a distance, her eerie tones the perfect counterpart to the heavy music.
