Roald Dahl's fabulous, grotesque creations just will not be confined to the page: Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory have already unleashed a host of outlandish characters in the West End and now Mr and Mrs Twit (played by Jason Watkins and Monica Dolan) are set to join them.

This revolting couple act extremely badly - keeping a cage of monkeys standing on their heads, for a start, and playing nasty tricks on each other - but get their come-uppance in Dahl's immensely popular children's book. The challenge for playwright Enda Walsh, adapting, and John Tiffany, directing, is to match Dahl's wild and mischievous imagination with an onstage world that delights and revolts audiences of all ages.
