Fiamma del Belcanto

Diana Damrau

(Erato)

The "flame of bel canto" burns with a lively radiance here.

In some of her recent appearances Diana Damrau has started to sound a touch shrill, but this disc gives us Damrau at her best, mellifluous and agile. In Bellini's La sonnambula and I puritani she is meltingly heartfelt.

Her Verdi scenes, from La traviata and Luisa Miller, probe deeper into the characters. She also ventures further to Puccini's La Boheme and Leoncavallo's Pagliacci.

Gianandrea Noseda and the Orchestra Teatro Regio Torino provide all-Italian accompaniments, much appreciated.
