'Against Captain's Orders', National Maritime Museum, London

The school holidays offer children the perfect opportunity to berate their parents for dragging them out on cultural trips to museums and galleries. Step forward the immersive theatre company Punchdrunk with a solution to please both parties.

In Against Captain's Orders, young audience members aged between six and 12 are invited to get on board for a maritime adventure. This groundbreaking show works with the museum and its artefacts, both those on display and those in store, to introduce children to maritime history through an exciting narrative and interactive elements. The company's Doctor Who-based show, The Crash of the Elysium, was wonderful - and a little bit frightening - so this could be an Easter treat.
